About the Book:
One moment, one choice can change a life forever.
Two years ago, Evgeny Yurlov’s dreams shattered on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. Without many options, he lands a job—far different from ballet—and returns to Moscow. There, he’s reunited with old friends—friends who need his help as government scrutiny intensifies on Grace Baptist Church.
Sasha Dvornikova isn’t the woman she once was, but Dmitri Rykov’s shadow is relentless. Reminders of her past lurk everywhere, and her sins have branded her undeserving of a man like Evgeny.
As mounting danger surrounds both the church and his job, Evgeny finds past struggles reignited, struggles that reach even Sasha. Amidst so much darkness, will Truth prevail, or will Evgeny’s choices destroy him—and those he loves?

(Thoughts before reading: Unworthy : AH!! I’m so excited for this one! I can’t wait to read Evgeny & Sasha’s story! And to get both stories together is even better! <3)
Now, I bet you’re asking, “So, did it live up to your original excitement?” To which, I can happily reply “Why yes, it did!” But for a full review? Now that’s a bit harder… So much happens in this one, and I loved every bit of it! (Well… loved as a reader, but also hurt dearly for some of these characters as they struggled as well 😭😭😭, but then again, all the best books tend to break us, right?)
I mentioned briefly on my blog, but I loved both Unknown and Unworthy, yet for separate reasons, and I felt that as a story, Unworthy was the slightly stronger of the two, and also somewhat more relatable in some ways. In Gabe and Sophia’s story, we see a fun thriller with crime lords and plenty of danger and suspense, but it’s all a bit…less personal? Despite the real threats and struggles the characters face, it’s all things that are slightly harder to relate to, and didn’t hit home quite the way things like depression and self-doubt tend to. These are things that many readers have either experienced to some degree personally, or have seen loved ones face as times. Due to this, the messages of hope, forgiveness, and God’s unfailing love tend to also be more meaningful and beautiful reminders that nearly all readers can appreciate and remember when life gets hard.
I loved seeing Sasha overcome her struggles as well, and the little inside jokes that at first she didn’t really understand or care for, but overtime it was those little things that held the most meaning! Both Sasha and Evgeny had their own struggle in this one, and even though they differed, I loved seeing how the overall themes in Unworthy fit both characters, and reminded them (and readers) of beautiful and powerful Biblical Truths, while also teaching about important issues and challenged that our fellow Christians and many people around the world face today, with the ever changing world we live in!
