About the Book:
He swore an oath.
Tucker Colburn is haunted by his comrade’s death. He promised to deliver the man’s personal effects to his sister, but before he can, the woman disappears. No forwarding address, no telephone number, and no way to contact her. The case is at a standstill until Tucker rescues another woman from a deadly attack.
She’s a target.
Leah Gray survived cancer, and the experience changed her forever. All she wants is to make her slice of the world better. When her good friend disappears, Leah will do anything to find her. Bringing attention to the case, however, places Leah in serious peril. Someone is determined to silence her. For good.
A search for the truth.
Tucker’s duty is clear. He must protect Leah while aiding her investigation, even if being close to the gorgeous brunette puts his heart at risk. But every step closer to the truth places them in greater danger. Will their strategic plan work? Or will finding the missing woman cost their lives?

Series: Triumph Over Adversity
Another thrilling addition to this action-packed series! I loved getting to know Tucker in the previous books, and was excited to read his story. I really like this fun group of friends, and this whole series has made me appreciate the group of guys more and more with each new book, this one’s no exception there! I loved seeing the guys once again banding together to help out a friend in need. Having the ladies and wives from some of the previous stories and seeing them interact with each other was a fun treat as well!
I also felt like this was one of the more complex mysteries and it kept me guessing, which I loved! It was a nice surprise getting to see how the story slowly unfolded (well, it’s a fast paced read, but the mystery unfolds a clue at a time, and they are more interwoven in ways that we didn’t see quite as much in earlier books.) This, plus the deepening feelings between the main characters, and their struggle to maintain a professional relationship and balance that while trying to hold on to their growing friendship in the midst of chaos? Yes, this is a fun story!
It wasn’t my favorite over all, and there were a few places where the pacing lagged a bit, which allows readers to catch their breath a minute before more action kicks in, but it made the story feel a little slower at times, and a couple of the scenes came off almost like filler content. Which is fine, and I get that sometimes it’s needed, but these are fast paced reads and on the shorter side, so it doesn’t work as well here…At least, I found them unnecessary.
I would have liked to get to know some of the characters more or at least had some meaningful event, something the characters could actually enjoy together maybe? Instead, most of these scenes seemed to be them traveling between point A and B, and not really overly helpful, they are short and there were only a couple though, so it didn’t affect the story too much either way.
