Ronika Reed, a recently released convict, is excited about starting fresh with an extended stay in a small desert town, at the invitation of her friend Lorelai Gatlin.

The calm, peaceful life she imagined is interrupted when private investigator Shane Stevens asks for her help in cracking a baby selling case. Shane doesn’t know of her possible involvement with a key player in this crime, and she is torn between the two men, wondering where her allegiance should lie. During the course of this investigation, a retired military veteran turns up dead on the outskirts of the small town and Ronika’s world is rocked when she discovers who the man was and why he was killed.

This series has managed to deliver exciting and fun that brings a creative twist to Christian romantic suspense, and I’m so excited to have had a chance to read them all! Sherri Kukla has such an original writing voice in this series, and I loved reading these mysteries and meeting these characters. Is the series perfect? No, but it’s a fun read and a nice change from many of the more well-known formula that many others in the genre use lately.

Kukla isn’t afraid to tackle difficult topics, and her writing includes a strong faith thread throughout the story, and I loved that! This one has been my favorite so far, but each one has been a little better than the book before. That’s how stories should be, with both the story itself, and the author’s writing ability growing with each additional book. I love seeing that here, and can easily say that each book has pulled me into this series and united me with these characters a little more. At this point, each new book is like coming back to share another exciting adventure with old friends.
