After meeting him in the previous book, I had a feeling that I was going to enjoy this one. Turns out I was right, but I actually loved this one way more than expected! Garrison is such a great guy anyway, and I’ve loved getting to know him more. The whole team keeps things interesting, and I was surprised to see more of each of them here, making me even more excited to read the rest of the series soon! There were so many fun scenes in this one, and I absolutely laughed out loud a few times and was definitely grinning while reading it. Both are always a good sign. I also marked some quotes that I loved can say that there were so many scenes in this one that I loved!

(And can I mention quickly how much I love Sawyer and Katelyn’s friendship/dynamic?) I loved Garrison and Katelyn. Watching them get to know each other and grow along the way was beautiful! If I hadn’t guessed before, this series is big on healing, and I’ve adored reading these first two books. But I also really loved how Sawyer accepted a stranger as a friend so quickly upon seeing Garrison’s connection with her, and I loved that more than I can express. Even the others on the team surprised me in this one, and as much as I love the ‘family adopts friends’ dynamic, this might even top that. Such a beautiful image of what family and friendship truly are, and I love seeing the group growing as the guys finally find their match.

Throw Thomas and Kyle into the mix, and this book absolutely captured my heart! While it was off to a rough start (humorous as it was XD) I knew from the beginning that I was in for a treat, but the jokes on me because this was everything I could have hoped for and more!

***MINOR SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT***

I do wish the end wasn’t quite so rushed… I think she did finally met Cap, but we were never told who it was who showed up, and there were a few other points in the final chapter(s) that I would have loved to see drawn out a bit more: the reunion, and seeing everyone return safely type things. Nothing major though, just personal preference. Maybe a little bit more of Kyle and Thomas at the ranch when he first arrived, even? Haha, I’m teasing there, but I do think it would have been interesting to see a bit more of their time together.

I would have also loved a bit more of an explanation about his time with the teens, and if that’s just something he’s always done, or was something he discovered in this time with the Navy. I know it’s mentioned there’s a photo of him with the group of youth, but we aren’t really told if he discovered that he was good at listening and helping them during his time serving, or if he’d always had that ability.
