About the Book:
Some wounds never heal.
As a former Navy SEAL, Walker Montgomery faces danger without flinching. But not even a combat zone halfway around the world was far enough to escape the trauma of his teen years. His younger sister was murdered and the killer never caught. Since returning home, he’s been quietly working the case, unable to move on with his life until justice is served.
She’s a survivor.
Hayley Barlow has her own tragic childhood. Abducted and held captive, she barely escaped the clutches of the same killer that murdered Walker’s sister. The invisible scars on her heart and the brand on her shoulder are souvenirs she can’t get rid of. When Hayley receives a taunting phone call from her attacker, she turns to Walker for help.
A race to stop a killer.
Walker is committed to safeguarding Hayley, but their closeness fractures the walls surrounding his heart. As the killer draws them into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, nothing is as it seems. Walker is used to taking the fight to the enemy, but this time, with Hayley’s life on the line, it may cost him more than he’s willing to lose.

Series: Triumph Over Adversity
This one, wow! It was definitely well worth giving this series another try, and this last book is why. I don’t know what it was about the first book in this series, I just really didn’t connect with Jason or Adison, and that made me wonder if I really wanted to continue with this series. Between my sister insisting it got better as it goes along, and a few other fellow Christian Fiction / Romantic Suspense fans talking about enjoying this series, I decided to try again, and picked up the next book. And the one after that… With each book I came to enjoy these characters and the stories more and more, and this epic conclusion was the cherry on top!
I had a couple of the books that I found myself really liking, but after reading Walker and Hayley’s story, I can say that, one: I’m so happy I persevered with this series, and two: that this is one of my absolute favorite romantic suspense stories in a long time, maybe one of my favorites ever so far!
There were a few things that were…a bit creepy, and that fit the story perfect in this case. Normally, I wouldn’t be comfortable with some of the things in this one, but considering the nature of the story, I felt the author handled it masterfully and it made the story all the more suspenseful. I also noticed that a couple of the points and issues I had with some of the previous books were well handled in this one, and made reading all the smoother and more enjoyable. I realize much of it comes off as personal preference, but it’s still hard to find a good story that doesn’t have a lot of added references, but oh so beautiful when I find one that either skips them all together (best-cases) or at least kept them to a minimum. I get it, we’re human and we like what we like, but yeah. I find those who handled it well all the more amazing and wonderful for it.

It’s the last in the series, but was a thrilling read.
