About the Book:
ON THE RUN. DESPERATE FOR TRUTH. ONLY THE GRACE OF GOD CAN SAVE HER.
After fleeing Egypt with the Hebrews for a chance at a better life, Egyptian street girl Seshat believes she’s leaving her past crimes behind. But, as she quickly finds, some crimes can’t be shaken.
She is saved by Gideon, a young Hebrew shepherd who causes her to reconsider her lifestyle, her heart, her religion. But relationships are never simple. When another boy, a scrappy young Egyptian, walks into her life, Seshat must decide whether to cling to her old ways or place her trust in the God of the Hebrews.
Gideon soon realizes he might be the only one who can lead Seshat to the truth.

Series: When the Rivers Swell sequel
I originally put this one off a while after reading the first one because I was busy at the start of the year, and wasn’t sure who to expect from this sequel. The previous book was the author’s debut, and I loved it, but it was also a little more on the slower side, and I wanted to have time to enjoy this one without feeling rushed, or having to take several day breaks due to being busy. So, I waited.
And while I’m glad I did, I needn’t have worried quite so much. I flew through this one! I couldn’t put it down, and paired with a more up-beat pace and focus anyway, it made for a quick read.
Seshat and Gideon were both enjoyable characters, and I loved reading their story. I also enjoyed the cameo’s of the characters from the first book: When the Rivers Swell. I highly recommend these both, and if you are reading both, that they be read in order, but the author also wrote them to be enjoyable as stand-alones too if you would rather that.
