A woman with a harrowing past. The hero who never breaks a promise.

I’ve wanted nothing to do with Hope Springs, Maine since the moment I turned eighteen and left. It nearly killed me to leave my grandmother behind, but I’d had no choice.

Secrets spread in small towns, and mine are heavy enough to bury me.

After my grandmother dies, I’m forced to return for the first time in eight years.

Unfortunately, trouble has followed me home.

Elijah Breeth—ex-Army Ranger turned private security—is who my grandmother told me to go to last year when I’d had a stalker. I refused then, wanting nothing to do with anyone in this zip code.

Now I have no other choice than to beg the handsome veteran for help.

The problem is, he hates me just as much as I despise this place.

How can I trust him to keep me alive when we can’t be in the same room for ten seconds without wanting to kill each other?

As expected, I loved getting to read Elijah’s story! I knew from the moment we met him in Pages of Promise that he was likely one that I was most excited about for the series (Jaxson being another) and I loved the enemies-to-more Andie and Elijah waste no time igniting from the moment they meet, and I even think their might have gotten off to a more fiery start than even Lance and Eliza managed, haha. I love it!

I also really enjoyed the letters in this one, getting to see a bit from Andie’s grandmother’s POV as the story builds. She was someone who hold a special place for both Elijah and Andie, so it was interesting to see this layer and relationship explored a little more in this way.

I would have loved for the faith to be a little deeper in the story, I did love seeing Andie’s struggles with her faith and hashing that out, but overall there’s more telling and talking about prayer or faith but not quite as much actually showing or mentions of the Bible and the wealth of wisdom and truth found between its pages.

I loved seeing Elijah and Andie’s relationship with their troubled pasts, and of course Michael’s teasing was fun! (I bet that comes back to bite him soon! Haha.)
